Fresno Superior Court - B.F. Sisk Federal Courthouse Conversion, Fresno, California: This five-story, concrete framed building of approximately 185,000 gross sq. ft., constructed in the late 1960s, is located on the Civic Plaza in downtown Fresno. It is currently occupied by the Federal District Court; upon completion of a new Federal Court building in Fresno this building will be conveyed to the State and converted to Superior Court use. Renovation of the building will consist of an upgrade of all systems, core and shell interior improvements; and a structural strengthening to resist seismic forces.

UC Berkeley Wurster Hall,
Berkeley, California: Built in 1964, Wurster Hall is a 150,000 sf ten-story building housing the College of Environmental Design. Occupying a highly visible site on campus, the retrofit scheme minimizes changes to the existing exterior. Rutherford & Chekene provided structural and geotechnical engineering for the project, completed in 2003.

Caltrans Eureka District Office Building, Eureka, California: The Caltrans Eureka District Office Building is a three-story reinforced concrete building situated on a sloping site in downtown Eureka. It is configured as an “L” shaped plan of two separate structures—a 31,000 gsf original building built in 1953 and a 39,000 gsf addition from 1964. The building was occupied during construction, and the retrofit design relied on exterior concrete shear walls and steel braced frames to minimize interior disruption.
