Protective design services
incorporate site perimeter protection, glazing hazard mitigation,
blast hardening of various vulnerable building elements and progressive
collapse mitigation. These elements of protective design have become
important engineering services in the protection of government and
private sector facilities. The GSA as well as other federal agencies
and many private industry developers mandate that all newly constructed
facilities, as well as any existing facilities, should be deigned
to minimize the hazardous conditions associated with dynamic loads
that result from an explosive device. The GSA-owned or leased facilities
must adhere to the provisions of the Interagency Security Criteria
(ISC).
WAI has been involved with protection of a wide range of federal
facilities including numerous GSA federal office buildings and courthouses.
Additionally, we have provided protective design services (blast
assessments and design, progressive collapse assessments and design)
for the DoD, DoS, DoT, DoE, the intelligence/law enforcement community
and quasi-federal agencies. The projects include day care and educational
facilities, museums, office buildings, laboratories, embassies,
and the Pentagon and similar high-value targets.

ENGINEERING, PROGRESSIVE COLLAPSE,
or PERIMETER PROTECTION.
