The R&C/WAI Joint Venture is able to assist federal agencies with the development of guidelines, representing agency’s interests in the guidelines development process, and presentation of instructional programs to agency staff and contractors.

Principals of both firms have actively participated in a leadership role in the preparation of documents to guide the practice for the Applied Technology Council (ATC), NIST and FEMA, as well as for professional associations.

Examples of our current and recent work include:

• Preparation of the structural/ seismic portion of the standards for construction for new California Courthouses.


• Preparation of guidelines for the rehabilitation of buildings for NIST.


• Preparation of guidelines for protection of nonstructural elements for the Department of State.

WAI can offer CEUs to attendees at technical presentations related to structural analysis and design, seismic hazard assessment, and nonstructural protection, as well as the effects of blast on structures.
